Dr. Payne is a graduate of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,
where he obtained MD and PhD degrees. He completed residencies in Internal
Medicine and Neurology as well as a fellowship in Cerebrovascular Neurology
at the University of Arizona. Dr. Payne was director of the stroke unit
at University Medical Center in Tuscon before joining Phoenix Neurological
Associates. He now directs the stroke service at Banner Good Samaritan
Medical Center. Dr. Payne has participated in a number of stroke research
trials and has written several articles for medical journals.
